Mission
FUNDEBE was born out of the lack of educational resources for children living in northern Benin, a country with one of the highest population growth rates in the world and one of the lowest per capita incomes in the world. FUNDEBE aims to contribute to the development of the region and promote social cohesion by providing basic social services such as education and health.
In line with the above, its statutes list the following purposes:
- The promotion of education and science in the Republic of Benin, and in general in African and other developing countries, with a Christian inspiration, in coordination with the Catholic Church present in each country, without distinction of any kind as to birth, race, sex, language, religion, opinion, national or social origin, economic position or any other personal or social condition or circumstance.
- The promotion of knowledge in Spain of the social and educational reality of Benin and in general of African and other developing countries.
- Cooperation for the educational and scientific development of Benin and its citizens, and in general of African and other developing countries.
Likewise, the activities described in the statutes include, in the field of social action, “complementary activities of a health nature that contribute to the achievement of the foundational purposes, such as the construction or management of health facilities, in particular by improving the conditions in which educational work is carried out”.
